In my 2001, I use the auxiliary video & sound inputs on the built-in VCR for a regular home type DVD player, plugged into a power inverter. The DVD player is tucked under the middle row of seats.
I have been eyeing the new smaller players available today, some of which even have car adaptors, or the all-in-one with their own screen which can still connect to overhead screen and car sound system.
Lots cheaper, and I can still play the random vcr tape.
UPDATEI found an interesting post at Automotive Forums about this. The poster describes how he removed the entire vcr from the console and mounted a DVD player in that space.
What isn't discussed is what they did about the sound/video connections. Maybe just strung a patch cord to the AUX inputs. I can see they could go under the bottom of the console to the inputs.
I'm very tempted by that idea...

MUST REPLACE FACTORY CD PLAYER OR CUT OUT THE SPEAKER LEAD.
Dealer or salvage yard.
I don't think there was a factory CD player for the 1988 corvette. The Bose was a cassette player that measures 1.5 din
See "Related Questions" below for questions relating to Windstar radios - possibly the one discussing the jammed cds(??)
Buy the removal tool to take stock radio out, can be ordered online or found in local auto parts store
you are better off leaving the factory CD player because the theft system, pwr locks, etc. are all connected through the CD player and will not work if u remove it unless u re-wire the factory CD player to the trunk.
I haven't found one yet, but to be honest, I haven't gone looking in many years. For a very very long time, I had a regular dvd player tucked underneath the middle seat. The cords (power, and audio / video) were run the short distance to the back of the console. I used a power inverter to provide a/c to the plug, and a 3.5mm converter to the left & right "rca" style plugs to tap into the 'AUX' inputs on the backside of the console. Now I use a portable dvd player that plugs straight into the cigarette lighter, and the audio / video to the console. (slightly different adaptors) As to a direct plug-in replacement for the vcr floor console: not likely to find one because the factory style dvd based entertainment systems were roof mounted.
According to the Owners Manual, fuse #2 & #6 relate to the entertainment / VHS system.See "Related Questions" below for moreIf it is like my 2001 Windstar SEL, an Autovision VE6825 VHS player, the problem is caused by one or more of the four black wires breaking just where the top panel flips open. I opened mine up and soldered in a heavier gauge wire. It has nothing to do with fuses if the interior eject button still functions.
