The refrigerant needs to be added on the low pressure side of the compressor. this is located under the front of the vehicle by the bottom of the radiator. the line has a fitting which should have a blue cap on it. that's where you add the freon.
The 1999 Oldsmobile Alero does not have Freon in the A/C system. It contains R134 and not Freon which is R12. This port is typically found on the larger diameter aluminum line between the compressor and the evaporator. Remove the cap, attach the refrigerant can's hose to the port, and follow the instructions on the can to add freon while the AC is running. Remember, it is illegal to release refrigerant into the atmosphere. It is also illegal to add refrigerant to a system with a leak without first repairing the leak.
