The proper way to use jumper cables to boost a low/dead battery: (1) one end of positive jumper cable to "dead" battery; (2) opposite end of positive jumper cable to "good" battery; (3) one end of negative jumper cable to "good" battery; (4) opposite end of negative jumper cable to GROUND on "dead" vehicle. Remove jumper cables in reverse order.
Probably. The alternator and voltage regulator may be fried, and the battery ruined. Take the battery to a battery shop and have them test it.
Take the cables off of the battery. Remove the battery hold down clamp and lift the battery out. Set the new battery in, reinstall the holddown, then connect the cables back.
Most of the ECU's are located behind the glove box. You will need to disconnect all battery cables before you do this. It may be a little difficult to get at the screws. But shouldn't be too bad.
A lot of the time Chevy used aluminum battery cables in their cars,(in particular my 1980) I was continually having starting and battery problems until I replaced the cables with copper.
If it starts every time when jumper cables are attached, you're getting a poor connection from the battery to the engine. Check the battery cables, especially the negative side, at both the battery and the end attached to the engine and/or body. (Note that, if the starter were bad, it probably wouldn't start consistently with jumper cables attached.)AnswerStarter needs to be replaced. Probably stuck brushes or bad solenoid. Try hitting the side of the starter with a wrench the next time it acts up. If it starts it's stuck brushes in the starter.
check the battery or battery cables or the alternator or starter
disconnect the 91 blazer cables at the battery. One at a time, disconnect the cable at the opposite end, then pull it out. Put the new cable in, routing it the same way, then connect the non battery end. do the same for the other cable, then connect the cables to the battery.
You either have a shorted out starter are the starter wires are shorted out.
Does it have fuel/spark/compression?
Just unhook the positive battery cable for 5 mins.
remove negative and positive cables, take battery holddown bolt off, remove battery! when installing new battery, battery hold down first then install the cables , neg first!dont forget to reset radio.
Clean the cables and bolts of all corrosion and tighten them so that the cables will not move. This will insure a good connection.jd
