Inside of the fuel tank
On a 2000 GMC Sonoma, the fuel composition sensor is typically located in the fuel tank, integrated into the fuel pump module. This sensor measures the ethanol content in the fuel and helps the engine control module adjust fuel delivery accordingly. To access it, you'll need to remove the fuel tank, as it's not easily accessible from outside.
Yes, the 2000 GMC Sonoma is equipped with a fuel pump reset switch, commonly referred to as a fuel cutoff switch. This switch is designed to automatically cut off the fuel pump in the event of a collision or significant impact. It is typically located in the passenger compartment, often near the driver's side kick panel or under the dashboard. If you suspect an issue with the fuel system, checking and resetting this switch may be a helpful troubleshooting step.
