It has what is called coil on plug style ignition sys. Each spark plug has its own individual coil right on top of the plug.
On a 2006 Ford F-150, coil D refers to the ignition coil for cylinder number 4, which is located on the passenger side of the engine. To access it, you would need to remove the engine cover and locate the ignition coils, which are positioned atop the spark plugs. The coils are typically arranged in a linear fashion, making it easier to identify each one by their corresponding cylinder number.
