Its on the back firewall, if you follow that single vacume hose on the backside of your Throttle Body it will go straight up to your MAP sensor.
Map sensors were not used on 88 camaros. Only maf sensors
Under hood, passenger side, upper firewall, mounted above A/C accumulator on firewall from: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/repairinfo/componentlocations/componentLocationMain.jsp?categoryNValue=4294931178&categoryName=MAP+Sensor&_requestid=715824
Yes and its right behind the tbi
On a 1999 Camaro, the map sensor is located on the back of the intake manifold. The intake manifold is the series of tubing that distributes the air coming into the engine.
I would suspect the map sensor is bad.
The MAP sensor on an '86 Camaro with a 2.8 liter engine is located by the distributor at the rear of the intake plenum. There will be a black plastic casing that needs removed to gain access to the sensor.
There is no MAP sensor on the 2.8L because it uses a Mass Airflow system. A MAP sensor is found on cars that use Speed Density (i.e. 3.1L Camaro's).
The fuel regulater diaphragm is bad, fix it.
Answer sounds like a fuel leak more than likely the fuel pressure regulator or the fuel injectors. I had a similar problem with my 1991 Silverado with a 350 TBI . After buying a coolant temperature sensor "The one on the intake manifold which acts as a choke" , I had no further problems . May also be a map sensor . I had similar problem on a 1989 Chevrolet Blazer with a 305 TBI. http://www.autozone.com/N,15900113//shopping/partTypeResultSet.htm
My sources do not list a MAT sensor for that vehicle however, they do list a MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor and it is mounted to the air cleaner.
check the vacume line behind the tbi that runs to the map sensor
It sounds like the MAP sensor is bad. Make sure there is no cracks or holes in the vacuum line and if it is fine, replace the MAP sensor.
