Under the hood on the passenger side, down low between the engine and the fire wall. You can reach the cap with your fingers but you can't see it very well. Who ever designed that one is surely not going to heaven.
It is below the alternator and kind of hard to see.
It is listed in your owners manual. If you don't have one call a Chevy dealer.
Because you have a leak.

For a 1997 Chevy Lumina, you should use power steering fluid that meets GM specifications, typically Dexron III or any compatible automatic transmission fluid (ATF). It's important to avoid using power steering fluid that contains additives or is not specifically designed for GM vehicles. Always check the owner's manual for specific recommendations, as using the correct fluid can help ensure optimal performance and longevity of the power steering system.
checking transmission fluid 3.1 ltr
I have a 1999 Lumina LTZ and the the power steering reservoir was impossible to find. Much like the other components in this monster 3800 engine like the battery hidden under the washer fluid....the power steering reservoir is located underneath the alternator. Be careful that when you remove the cap you don't get debris from the top into the reservoir.
Behind the engine is a dipstick labeled transmission fluid. Pull the stick out and pour in the tranny fluid with a funnel
Yes, it can be pushed out of the reservoir.
Add fluid at the power steering pump reservoir. Rear of engine passenger side.
I have a 1994 chevy lumina and it takes 4 quarts of transmission fluid when totally empty.
Gm fluid are something that's equivalent
