The computer on a 1990 Buick Century is typically located in the engine compartment. It is often situated near the firewall on the passenger side of the vehicle. The computer, also known as the Engine Control Module (ECM) or Powertrain Control Module (PCM), is responsible for managing the engine's performance and various vehicle functions. It is essential for diagnosing and troubleshooting issues related to the vehicle's operation.
You can determine if the ignition control module in a 1998 Buick Century is faulty by checking for symptoms such as engine misfires, stalling, or difficulty starting the engine. Additionally, if you experience a lack of power during acceleration or if the Check Engine light is illuminated, these may indicate an issue. Testing the module with a multimeter or a diagnostic scan tool can also help confirm if it’s malfunctioning. If you suspect a failure, replacing the module is a common remedy.

You will find the ICM directly below the coils. Just remove the coils and you will be able to remove it. This is on a 1990 Buick Century V6 3300 engine. If you have a different engine I cannot confirm the location.
If you are referring to resetting the Check Engine Light then you will need to have someone with a scanner to do it. If you are referring to reprogramming the Engine Control Module then the dealer will do it.

Yes the ecm( engine control module)/ pcm( powertrain control module) are the same thing. Different manufacturers use different acronyms, ECU (engine control unit) is another often used.
I just bought one for $86.00 from an Autozone in Wisconsin. Compare that to your local tax rates and you have your answer. However, have a auto parts store check your old one first it may not be bad.
