The 1983 Nissan Maxima is equipped with for flashers, one on each corner of the vehicle. The flasher relay switch is located beneath the dashboard in the passenger compartment.

Ah in 1983 sorry but that model originaly had a mechanical pump on the right front lower corner of the engine block.Espesally if it has a carburetor! Someone correct me if I'm wrong! Some 1983 models came with crossfire fuel injection and had in-tank fuel pumps. The fuel pump relay is located on the driver's side, between the fender and brake booster. It should be next to the fan relay, which looks similar to it, but the fuel pump relay should be the one closest to the brake booster if I'm not mistaken.
If it is carbureted and probably a V8 there is no fuel pump relay. the fuel pump is mechanicly driven and it is located on the front of the block on the passenger side.

It is under the dash on the driver side up against the door side. The flasher looks like a rectangular box that plugs in to a harness. Some models have a separate flasher for the hazards on the right side of the steering column.
