The VIN is located in several areas on a 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass.
The Body VIN is on the driver's side dash and is viewable by looking through the windshield from the outside.
The Frame VIN is located on the outer side of the frame on the Driver's side about 1 foot up from the rear arch. It may be too rusty or covered in undercoating to see without some careful cleaning first.
The engine VIN is stamped on the block on a tab that protrudes from the cylinder wall that is closest to the driver's side front of the car.
The transmission VIN is also stamped onto the housing.
All of these VINs will have the same last 6 digits if the car is truly numbers matching.

The most simple answer is to look at the second digit of the VIN. If its a "3", then you have a Cutlass model, if it is a "4", then you have a 442 model.
