You must lift the right headlight lamp cover. There is a small switch behind the headlight that when flipped up, will reveal a blue button. Press that blue button and the coolant sensor will rise from the left quadrant of the motor. Ensure the left quadrant is free of debris and perishable items, such as meat and cheese. This will prevent any convergence between food and mechanical products. There, you will find the coolant you seek. Hope this was helpful.

Thanks For The Great Advice! But I must contribute a fair warning about the nearby blinker fluid container.
When fumbling around behind the headlight casing I accidentally cracked the blinker fluid container. Be very careful to wash that blinker fluid stuff off of your hands!!! It can create real bad skin irritations where you don't want real bad skin irritations ever!!! Besides your blinkers stopped working, you'll have to convince your girl you haven't done anything wrong and you'll have to fight the raging temptation not to itch while you're shopping at the local grocery store!
P.S.: Diesel Fuel will do the same thing.

I just had a throttle position sensor installed in my 1999 mercury grand marquis. I feel certain it is located in the same place on your 1998. Look up top behind the air intake tube (large hose) leading to your throttle body. It is a rather small black hard plastic item. www.autoclinix.com is a good website for printing out the directions for installing all parts on your mercury grand marquis. Good Luck, Ms. Lena
