hey there this is Steve im a Saturn mechanic in st.catharines on.anyway to answer your question the coolant temp sensor is in the head under the upper rad hose,if you want a tip make sure the connector has no signs of green corosion,and when u change the sensor inspect the sensor if it is bad than it will be discoloured or have a crack in it. make sure you get a factory sensor because they are now updated and it will be made of brass not plastic,also don't worry about the way you unplugged it,it doesn't matter what way it plugs in its only a thermistor,by the way the 97's were bad for fuel pumps.

If you mean for Coolant level sensor it is on the bottom of the plastic coolant dish on the passenger side of the car.
The coolant temp sensor is located next to the thermostat housing.
Which engine do you have?

Either your coolant is actually low or you have a coolant sensor bad.
The 1997 Saturn knock?æsensor is located on the back of the engine. The knock sensor can be removed by removing the wiring harness and the retaining bolts.
Low engine coolant
The coolant temperature sensor on a 1997 Lincoln Continental is located on top of the engine, near the upper radiator hose. It constantly relays the engine's temperature to the computer.
