It's pretty universal for all Ford products (at least back to 1966 Mustang - when I did my first fuel pump) - the fuel sending unit that drives the gas gauge is part of the fuel pump assembly inside the gas tank.

It sounds like your fuel senser that is attached to your fuel put is bad. The big down fall to this is you have to replace the entire fuel pump to fix the problem.

Its normally the sender. Take the wire off the sender (on the tank) and earth it. Turn the ignition on. If the guage rises the sender needs replacement. If not then its more likely to be a wiring fault than the gauge itself
This depends on what sending unit you are speaking of. If it's a fuel sending unit, this is in the gas tank. You will have to drop the fuel tank to do this.
