The trunk release on a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix is located on the floor, near the driver's seat. There is also one located inside the trunk for emergencies.

This may or may not help. My '96 has an interior trunk release lever located on the floor between the driver's seat and the door sill. I don't know how long Pontiac located the release there.
