IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE (IAC)
Definition: An electrically-operated valve which allows air to bypass the throttle plate in a fuel injected engine to regulate engine idle speed.
On the throttle body. Where the control cables attach to the throttle body to open the throttle, there is a device across from it. It is small, bolted to the throttle body, and has a wire clip attached to it. 2 screws hold it in. unplug it, unscrew it and it is off.
IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE (IAC)
The (IAC) is located under the Plastic cover in the middle of the engine compartment. Very easy to replace.
There are two bolts and one plug.
It should only take you around 10 or 15 minutes to change. Buy it new; it doesn't even pay to clean it. It works half the times. But it will go bad eventually… Cost: approximately $50 (December 2009, Autozone), or $33-106 at RockAuto.com
The valve is held in place by two bolts. Remove them and disconnect the electrical connector. Use a new gasket and install the new valve. Connect the wires.
The Taurus does not have a heater control valve. Coolant flows through the core at all times. Be sure to review the "Related Question" below for much more about Taurus temperature controls
The 1989 Mercury Sable 3.0 liter engine EGR valve is located on the firewall. The valve will be on the passenger side of the firewall.

The PCV valve is located on the back side valve cover. It should be a plug in type and easy to change.
