on the 4.6L it is located passenger side of where the radiator hose enters the engine, mine has a wire with a black cap on it
The physical position of the sensor is behind the water pump pulley, where you can see the the cable connection on the cover of the crankshaft and camshaft gears.
Not sure about the 1997 but on the 1994 the fan coolant sensor is located on the water inlet pipe behind the water pump. You should see an electrical connector. There is also an engine cooling temperature switch (ECT) mounted on the thermostat housing, also with an electrical connector.
most are near the water outlet housing.
Depends on the model and year. Some have a thermo switch on the radiator. Check for a wired plug on the radiator. Some fans are controlled by the ecu using data from the coolant temp sensor.
under the water pump.
Left rear of cylinder head (single wire sensor)
just changed it today, located right side of engine, under to the right of the engine cover , has wires coming off it looking like a bolt,, water will come out when you loosen the bolt.
under the water pump.
right below your thermostat housing
Front top of the intake manifold.
Which temperature switch, there are 2. One is the DME temp switch and that one is close to the water inlet at the top of the motor and usually has a blue connector. The dash sensor is located in the middle of the block under the intake manifold and is a single wire sensor.
Above the water pump below the super charger where the distributor would be if it had one. Its a little hard to see at first but can be seen from the front of the motor.
