In a 1996 Oldsmobile Ciera, the sensor that controls acceleration is typically part of the throttle position sensor (TPS), which is located on the throttle body. The TPS monitors the position of the throttle plate and sends this information to the engine control module (ECM) to adjust fuel delivery and timing for optimal acceleration. If you're looking for a specific sensor related to acceleration, it may also refer to the vehicle's speed sensor, which is usually located on the transmission.

where is the crank sensor located at on a 1996 cutlass ciera wit a 3.1 engine
It's not a part, there are parts... First of ECU, then EGR valve, idle control valve, MAP sensor, oxygen sensor.
What kind of acceleration sensor are you referring too?
try changing plugs and wires then move to coils. if not there it could be and o2 sensor.
The O2 sensor is in the rear exhaust maniford. It can be changed from above, but you'll need to use a mirror or work by braille.
THE CRANK SESOR IS LOCATED BEHIND THE STARTER ON THE 2.2.
the map sensor is on a bracket between the firewall & the inside valve cover. it has a 3 wire plug on it & a vacuum hose that goes to it.
