manual transmissions dont have dipsticks.
they have a plug on the side. take it out. and stick your finger in there. the fluid should be close to pouring out of the hole.
The manual transmission dipstick on a 2002 Subaru WRX is on the passenger side of the engine bay. It is below the air cleaner.

I it is a manual transmission it has no dipstick. If it is A/T it is located on the front of the transmission near the engine block. It is very small and has no tube. Look carefully.
