Inside your steering column , the turn signal lever and hazard flasher button are parts
of the multifunction switch that stick out from the steering column
To replace the multifunction switch on a 1997 Ford Thunderbird, first disconnect the negative battery cable to ensure safety. You have to test the multifunction switch and make sure the wire harness is good. It most likely the multifunction switch.

If you are referring to the inertia switch, it is in the trunk.
you will have to have this evac by a a/c tech.
in the trunk behind the paneling, i forget which side and the relay is under the hood on the pass side i believe
