The neural safety switch, often referred to as the neutral safety switch, on a 2001 Chevy Metro is typically located on the transmission. It's positioned near the transmission's shift linkage, where it helps ensure that the vehicle can only be started in park or neutral. If you're having trouble locating it, consulting the vehicle's service manual can provide specific diagrams and additional details.
It is behind the back door and have a switch.
I just had the same problem with my 1998 It was the brake light switch. It connects into the neutral safety switch on top of the brake pedal. The part was 14 dollars at autozone. I would check all the fuses first though sometimes that is the simplest.
It's on the front of the block, near the exhaust manifold. A single wire attaches to it.
On a Chevy Metro, the transmission range sensor, also known as the neutral safety switch, is typically located on the transmission itself. It is usually mounted on the side of the transmission housing, where it detects the position of the gear lever. To access it, you may need to lift the vehicle and remove any protective covers or components obstructing the sensor. Always consult the vehicle's service manual for specific details and guidance.
The only way to fix the dimmer switch is to replace it I have tried cleaning it lubercating it. nothing will fix it for good .so i had to replace it. It is a factory item.
I am in no way a pro at this or even sure about this, but I have a 98 Metro LSI, and have had problems with my car starting because it doesnt alway recognize that the clutch is in. I believe that is what you are asking about. If you look near the top of Clutch peddle you will find a couple of wires that go to the switch and these on my car come loose and sometimes have a bad connection. Since you have to get under the steering wheel it is not the easiest access area, but there are no panels to remove so you should be able to trace the wires to the switch if it isn't the switch that is connected to the top of the clutch. Hope that helps

To replace the heater switch in the dash of a 2000 Metro, first disconnect the car battery to ensure safety. Remove the dash panel covering the switch by unscrewing any screws and gently prying it off. Disconnect the wiring harness from the back of the old heater switch and remove it from the dashboard. Install the new switch by connecting the wiring harness and reassembling the dash panel, then reconnect the battery.
