passengers side of rear housing of transmission
I was told by my parts guy that the back up light switch is the same as the reverse light switch.
Either auto , or 5Spd. , switch is mounted on transmission.
Remove the wiring harness from the 2003 Jeep Liberty pressure switch. Remove the power steering pressure switch retaining screws. Reverse the process to install the new power steering pressure switch.
Reverse light switch is probaly connected to switch on transmission check connections
check the reverse light switch and all connections
Check inside the glove compartment (pull the whole compartment out).
there is an adjustable brake light switch under the pedal.
Below the passenger side head light assembly.
The reverse wire on the side of trans mite have came off or you may have afalty reverse switch on trans or a bad ground from bolbes.
It should be on the transmission. There should be two, a reverse light switch and a neutral switch. Unplug one and put it in reverse. if the backup lights come on, then that's the one you want. Unscrew it and screw in a new one. pretty easy.
On my 1993, 1 is Brown/with a light green tracer, the other is black. If the bulbs are good & the sockets look O.K. The Back up lights then go to the transmission. Right side reverse switch or some say neutral safety switch.
Most engine compartment lights turn on when the hood is opened with a plunger switch or a tilt sensor. I have seen some that have a light that can be handheld and either have a switch on the light itself or it comes on when you remove the light from its holder.
