The starter solenoid is attached to the starter - Explorers from 1995 to 1997 , the starter relay is mounted on the driver's side inner front fender between the ABS pump and the power distribution box 1998 and newer Explorers the starter relay is in the power distribution box, in the engine compartment, a simple plug in.
