Freon is a brand name. It uses R134a refrigerant.
The only refrigerant you can legally use in your 2001 Saturn would be the 134-A
The 2001 Mercury Cougar does not contain Freon. Freon was banned in 1996. I suggest you take this vehicle to someone who has the knowledge, tools, and skill, to repair the A/C system.

I suggest you contact your local Saturn dealership/service department. Saturns have a history of having problems with idle so, be sure you need the new idle control valve prior to purchase.

For adding additional Freon, you will need the proper Freon type of Freon and connectors for your vehicle. The Freon is added through the low pressure port of your ac system. If your system needs a complete recharge then the air needs to be removed first (known as pulling a vacuum) before Freon is added.
