It will be mounted behind the battery where the head lights are.
It could be on the fender where the battery is.
it should have an internally regulated alternator
Behind right headlight. Gold box.
Depends on condition they can go from $3,500 to $12,000
Passenger side, right next to the ballast resistor.
To test the voltage regulator on a 1974 Volkswagen Beetle, first, ensure the battery is fully charged and the ignition is off. Use a multimeter to measure the voltage at the battery terminals with the engine running; it should read between 13.5 to 14.5 volts if the regulator is functioning properly. If the voltage is below this range, the regulator may be faulty. Additionally, check for any loose connections or damaged wiring that could affect performance.
You can't. German engineers have been improving the design of these vehicles since their conception in 1939, that regulator is there for a reason and there is a risk of electrical fire by bypassing it.
A 1974 Chevrolet C10 pickup, Fleetside, Long Wheel Base, 2 wheel drive, sold for $3,153 brand new.
it's inside the alternator, and is probabaly causeing overcharging of the battery (you might see white foam(battery acid)on the ground under the car) you can't buy and individual voltage regulator though, you have to buy a new alternator
Ty Pickup died on 1974-08-02.
There are two options. It may be on the inside fender. It would be a square black metal box with at least four wires coming out of it. The other is it has an internal regulator in the alternator. If the plug on your alternator has two wires side by side coming out (II), it wil have an external regulator. If they are facing each other long ways (--) then it's internal.
