The '84 camaro 305 uses a computer controlled carb. Fuel mixture and idle are adjusted to maintain the proper air/fuel ratio. If your car is idling too high, it could be an indication of a problem elsewhere. Try basic maintenance. Fuel and air filters, plugs, wires, and pcv valve replacement. Also check your engine temp with an engine coolant thermometer when it's fully warmed up. If it's running too cool the computer will think it hasn't warmed up yet and will hold the idle high. A bad temp sensor can also cause this. Just be sure to get the right sensor as there are several.
