20W50 is the " thicker " oil
20w-50 indicates Synthetic-oil
In hot weather it would (or should) not be a problem. 30wt and 10W30 are generally the rule.
20w-40 20w-50
Oil that is thicker than 20W-50 includes 25W-60 and 30W-70 motor oils. These oils have a higher viscosity rating, making them thicker at both low and high temperatures. Additionally, some racing or heavy-duty oils may also exceed a 20W-50 thickness, providing added protection under extreme conditions. Always check manufacturer specifications for compatibility with your engine.

the weight of oil that is in the motor...10w-30 is more than enough, if the oil was changed and say 20w-50 oil was put in then your oil pressure is going to be higher...the oil is thicker or heavier
No, absolutely not. It is far to heavy for an air cooled lawn mower engine. Use 10w30 or 30 weight in the summer. I recommend synthetic for an air cooled engine.
