The Lewis and Clark Expedition explored the Louisiana Purchase territory.
The territory beyond Louisiana along the Columbia River explored by Lewis and Clark was part of the Oregon Country. They traveled through this region in 1805-1806, documenting the landscape, wildlife, and interactions with Native American tribes. Their expedition was instrumental in expanding knowledge of the American West.

It was purchased from France on April 30, 1803, for $15 million and officially explored by the Lewis and Clark expedition (1804-1806). The US negotiators were seeking the purchase of New Orleans and were surprised when they were offered all of the territory instead.

It was Lewis and Clark's Voyage of Discovery which began in 1804. With the Louisiana Purchase completed in 1803, the French had ceded their territory to the U.S. The British claimed much of what later became the Oregon Territory, although there were also French and American trappers in the area. Spain still claimed much of the area southwest of the Louisiana Territory, but the expedition did not travel that far south. So I suspect it was British territory that Lewis & Clark ventured in to.pike 1806-1807
Captains Meriwether Lewis and William Clark lead a group of men called the "Corps of Discovery" to explore the Louisiana Territory from 1804 to 1806.
The Louisiana Territory was a vast region of North America purchased from France in 1803, effectively doubling the size of the United States. It encompassed land west of the Mississippi River, including parts of 15 current U.S. states, and was explored by Lewis and Clark from 1804 to 1806. This acquisition significantly contributed to westward expansion and the idea of Manifest Destiny.
