I'm having the same problems. my 94' Firebird is a 3.4l v6 and varies on the range of RPM's when you put it in park or neutral. i took it to a local repair shop and they said it could be a broken computer chip. or simple as restoring the defaults on the computer chip
watch the rpms when you break stand the car
NO
Check for a vacuum leak or a problem with the EGR valve.
Check you spark plugs. Probably going to need to replace them.
No less then 6 LBS. At 1000 RPMs. And at least 18 LBS. or more at 2000 RPMs. This is the MINIMUM amount that factory says it must have to oil the engine correctly.
On a 1997 Pontiac Firebird, the oil pressure should typically read between 40 to 60 psi when the engine is at normal operating temperature and at higher RPMs. At idle, the oil pressure may drop to around 20 to 30 psi. If the gauge shows readings significantly outside this range, it could indicate an issue with the oil pump, oil level, or the engine itself, and should be checked immediately.
Oil pressure ( minimum amount ) is 6 LBS. at 1000 RPMs. 18 LBS. at 2000 RPMs. 24 LBS. at 4000 RPMs. more pressure is fine too.
bad iac valve or vac. leak
I had the same Problem on my 94... try replacing the spark plug wires.
