I have a 99' with the same problem. Hopefully , putting in a new thermostat will fix it. I'll post a reply on whether it worked or not.
A dead alternator is most likely. Maybe the ECM but not likely.
The only light that could come on would be the check engine light.
The last Dodge Caravan to come from the factory with any greaseable parts was the 1995 model.

If the interior lights come on and go of and chimes sound off f on a 1997 Dodge Caravan there could be a loose connection somewhere. This is a common condition with the Dodge Caravan series.
