Its not the torque converter. It's the electric air pump found on the inside frame rail on the driver's side roughly below the driver's seat. This air pump is the EGR system for these vehicles. What you are hearing is normal.

1.) Get the Torque converter checked.

2.) Possibly a problem with the fan clutch. Trailblazers have had a long history of the fan clutch failing on when heating up, and causes the fan to always stay on. Eventually, you may get a check engine light with the code referring to a fan clutch over speed.

It can be replaced by the DIYer, but requires some specialized tools to remove it.

Will a 2002 Chevy trailblazer transmission interchange with 1995 gmc sonoma 4.3l?

A 2002 Chevy Trailblazer transmission is not directly interchangeable with a 1995 GMC Sonoma with a 4.3L engine. The Trailblazer uses a different transmission design and electronic control systems compared to the older Sonoma model. While both vehicles may share some components due to being GM products, significant modifications would be needed for the transmission to work in the Sonoma. It's best to consult a professional or reference a compatibility guide for specific interchangeability.
