Your 2000 Chevy Prizm may stall after running for a short time due to several potential issues, such as a failing fuel pump, clogged fuel filter, or a malfunctioning ignition system. Overheating components, like the ignition coil or crankshaft position sensor, might also cause it to stall once the engine reaches a certain temperature. Additionally, a dirty air filter or issues with the throttle body could affect airflow and engine performance. It's best to have a mechanic diagnose the issue for accurate troubleshooting.

What causes a 2000 Chevy Prizm to die after running for a while when it has a new battery and starts fine?

I had a similar problem with my 2000 Chevy Prizm. It would die intermittently, even when moving. The problem was that the onboard computer (ECM?) has a ground wire attached to the engine. When this wire would come loose the onboard computer would shut the engine off. A mechanic refastened the ground wire to the engine and car has been fine ever since. BTW, I suspect that the previous owner of my Prizm was doing some electrical work and did not reattach the above ground wire properly.
