I recently had the exact same problem on my 2003 santa fe Took it to the dealer 3 times and finally they contacted a field engineer and the problem was a bad transmission temperature sensor.(It makes sense)they found a bulletin 0440016 for trans temp sensor replacement. I just gave you the number code that is on my repair statement. Hope that helps!!! I definitely feel your pain!!!
You will need an OBD II tester to retrieve the trouble codes. The connector is located under the dash (in plain view) within 12 inches on either side of the steering column as this is mandated by the Federal Government.
The code reader port on a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe is located under the dashboard, near the driver's side. You can typically find it just above the brake pedal, behind a small cover or panel. It is an OBD-II port that allows you to connect a diagnostic scanner to read trouble codes from the vehicle's computer.

The first one is 'draw' and the second one is 'portal'.

To reset the check engine light on a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe, you can disconnect the car's battery for about 15 minutes. This will clear the engine codes and reset the light. Alternatively, you can use an OBD-II scanner to clear the codes directly. However, it's important to ensure that any underlying issues that triggered the light are addressed before resetting it.

To replace the purge control valve in a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe, first, locate the valve, which is typically found on the engine's intake manifold or near the fuel tank. Disconnect the electrical connector and the vacuum hoses attached to the valve. Remove the mounting bolts and take out the old valve, then install the new one by reversing the removal steps, ensuring all connections are secure. Finally, clear any diagnostic trouble codes and check for leaks.
