8mm nut that holds the transmission cable is most likely loose, 1/unsrew shift knob and remove 2/pop out the chrome edged cover with the drive positions on it prnd3 3/unscrew the 2 screws under the ashtray and lift the rear of that panel [there are two snap off rings that hold it on] 4/PUT THE CAR IN PARK ,reach down and forward on the right side of the shift box put the cable forward if loose and tighten. 5/start the car back up and make sure it is all aligned. you should be good to go. good luck nothing to it
figure $2,500 to $3,000 and it will be in the ball park.
check the brake pedal switch
why is my 2006 Nissan altima gear shift stuck in park
Park
Trouble code P1899 means: Park/ Neutral switch stuck in park or gear
one of the cables need adjusted or there is a switch on top of the brake pedal that needs adjusted.
because its in a bind
start the car, or move the key to the 'ACC' position and step on the brake - then take out the little black catch-all thing next to the shifter and find the little pink button under the shift plate and push it. while holding it down, you should be able to shift out of park. For the permanent fix take a look at the dozens of other questions about this issue - I'm getting bored with cut'n'pasting my answers
You might not be holding the brake pedal down hard enough or there may be a problem with that gear.
There is a plastic piece inside the gear shift console that breaks and makes it impossible to move out of park without special effort. Do not try to force the gear shift or you will just make things worse.
check the safety switch on the brake pedal for the parking gear lock make sure the break is pressed before you try 2 take it out of park
same thing happened on my 2008 dodge avenger, dealer said it was due to a part that melted and was replaced under warranty.
