Check your universal joints!
If it squeaks while it moves but not while it's at idle then the squeaks are body or suspension noise.
The drive belt may be slipping or going bad.
it may be the drive shaft u-joints if its rear wheel drive
One of your belts may be loose or in need of belt dressing.
One cause of a popping noise from the front end while backing up in cold weather is the drive shaft. A mechanic can help find the problem.

Bad wheel bearing? Brake pads worn? Dirt/pebble caught between brake pads and rotor? Bad CV joint?
check tension on fan belt(s)

Well you can't actually accellerate with a broken drive but however if the drive shaft breaks while you are driving your vehicle will keep moving providing you don't press the brakes
