I don't know why your front end rattles, only my back end rattles. XD
There is something seriously wrong up-front!Take it to a front-end specialist right away for a professional diagnosis.
Check front end components i.e tie rod ends ball joints, struts and strut mounts for wear and looseness
My 2001 Tahoe did the same thing. Everytime I hit rough road, speed bumps, or even a tight turn, I would hear a rattle in front and a vibration in the steering wheel. I asked a mechanic at Tires Plus to look at it and he said the steering column shaft was the culprit. $125 later (which included labor), problem was solved.
If your front-end is loose after hitting a bump, but not at speed, when you use the brakes, or when you turn - then the most likely cause is going to be your suspension.
it sounds like your strut has served it's purpose in this life.
A rattle sound when hitting bumps could be caused by loose or worn suspension components such as sway bar links, control arm bushings, or strut mount bearings. It is important to have the suspension system inspected by a mechanic to identify and address the specific issue to prevent further damage.
Replace the front upper and lower ball joints.
check all 4 of your shock mounts or check the stabiliser links
percussion instruments are instruments you have to hit.
Maybe its the dashboard if the rattle is inside. I hear the same rattle when I hit a bump.
because when the titanic hit the iceberg it opend part of the front so the front went down first
you should check the front anti-sway bar bushings, if that dont work check all ball joints , tie rod end's and stering knuckles if that don't get it check your wheel bearings. I have a '91 ford explorer and I had that problem. I forget the layout of a '98's suspension but anyways, the problem was the bushings for where the radius arms go into a frame cross beam. (The radius arms run front to back).
