If your check engine light is flashing , an engine cylinder misfire has been detected
Yes, water can cause a misfire, which will cause the check engine light to flash.
Jumping the pin connector on the ECU will allow the check engine light to flash on the dash console. The check engine light will flash repeatedly and show codes.
The 1994 villager is OBD-I, so the connector is located on the right side of the engine on top of the transmission casing. You will see three connectors. It is the one closest to the firewall. The process of getting the codes to flash are found in an Edmunds shop manual. You turn the ignition to "on", disconnect the the connector, use a jumper to cross two pins, wait for 2 seconds, re-connect the connector and then go read the slow/fast flashes via the check engine light inside. After you turn the ignition off, the check engine codes will be erased. good luck, shawn

A flashing check engine light is an indication of a misfire.
There is a single green plug under the hood on the passenger side of the engine, in the back next to the firewall, (there is also a 5 wire plug next to it, dont mess with that) take a wire with a spade connection and plug it into the single green connector and ground the other end. (connect it to the body on a clean metal spot) then turn the key on, but DONT start it. watch the Check Engine Light, count the flashes and pauses. EX. flash flash flash flash flash (repeat) this is a 3-2 code, look that code up and find the error.
