I had this problem about 3 years ago, with 124,000 miles on my truck. The bad news here is that your transmission is most likely on the fritz. If your truck is making a very loud, almost vacuum like. noise I would recommend having the transmission rebuilt. This is pricey, but your truck will run like new again. I also added an external transmission cooler, to prevent future problems - even though I have the factory "towing package" which includes an internal tranny cooler. I wish I had added the cooler sooner, as my transmission runs much smoother than it ever did. I still have not had a single problem since the rebuild, and have about 162,500 miles on my truck now.
