Your 2000 GMC Sonoma may be bucking at driving speed due to several potential issues, such as a faulty ignition system, including worn spark plugs or a failing ignition coil. Other possible causes include fuel delivery problems, such as a clogged fuel filter or a malfunctioning fuel pump, or issues with the air intake system, like a dirty mass airflow sensor. It's advisable to have the vehicle diagnosed by a mechanic to identify the exact cause and prevent further damage.

what makes a 1992 gmc sonoma 5 speed tramission quit when it gets hot
2 quarts
Under the hood, on the firewall, passenger side, close to the blower motor speed resistor.
On a 1995 GMC Sonoma, the speed sensor is typically located on the transmission. Specifically, it can be found mounted on the side of the transmission case, near the output shaft. If you have a manual transmission, the speed sensor may be integrated into the speedometer drive gear. Always consult your vehicle's service manual for precise location and removal instructions.

The jerking and bucking is probably along with a pop sound from the engine. This always indicated a LEAN condition with the Engine. In other words, it is NOT getting enough fuel to run under a load or that speed.
It shouldn't have one. The speedometer should run off a signal from the vehicles computer.
