Yes, If a spark plug with a different part number fulfills the requirements of the engine, can be replaced.
A spark plug is the part of an internal combustion engine which forms a high-voltage spark which ignites the fuel-air mixture to begin the power stroke.
On the inline six cylinder engine , spark plug # 6 is the rear spark plug On the V6 engine , spark plug # 6 is the rear plug on the drivers side of the engine On the V8 engines , spark plug # 6 is the 2nd plug from the front on the drivers side of the engine
To Determine what spark plug is in your 16hp enging you would need to be more specific. It could have a Briggs and Stratton engine or it could have a Kohler engine. Both engines use different spark plugs. The spark plug for the Kohler engine is part number 32295-1. The part number for the B&S engine is 43591-7
There are no spark plug wires. Each spark plug has its own coil and the spark plug attaches to the coil directly. To access the coil and plug, you need to remove the black plate on the top center of the engine (4-6 torx screws, I believe).
The spark plugs and wires are under the cover plate on top of the engine. The cover is held on with six philps screws.
I'm assuming you have the plug on the plug wire and the plug is not currently in the motorcycle. You simply place the metal threaded part of the plug on the engine head and it will start firing if the engine is running.
take the spark wire off, remove spark plug, put wire back on plug, put steel part of plug against the medal part of engine (with a insulated pare of pliers) then crank the motor over watch the electrode on end of plug if you see spark you have it if you don't ....
If you have an old lawn mower spark plug (or any spark plug), pull off any spark plug wire and attach the old plug to it. Lay the plug down on on a grounded metal part of the engine and have someone crank the engine over and watch for spark. My guess is you have spark but no fuel. A bad fuel pump is common for GM.
It is important to gap the spark plugs of an engine. The spark plug gap measurement for this engine is 0.044 inches.
