Why is there play in the 2005 GMC Sierra 2500HD steering wheel after replacing gear box and pitman arm and idler arm and new alignment?

The intermediate steering shaft is sloppy. You can fix it with lube (requires installing a zerk) or replacing it with the upgraded version now available from GM.
