I have a 2000 LS. The earlier models were well known for having a water pump leak and also the thermostat housing. The seals were a bad design.
The new part is similar on the outside but on the back it has been redesigned to work better than previously.
But there could be a leak from somewhere else as well.
Coolant systems pressurize when they get heated up. When you shut the car off as the vehicle cools the coolant will find a way to escape, as it's under about 15-19 lbs of pressure.

Coolant level. There are many other posts on the topic, you need to check the coolant level and start from there. Chances are you may have a coolant leak. No coolant = no heat.
Aprox 12 to 14 quarts of coolant.
there is hydraulic fluid reservoir for the fan... it's driven by hydraulic pump... and there is coolant reservoir...
On a 2000 Lincoln Continental : The engine coolant reservoir is in the engine compartment . It is on the PASSENGER SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT and has a thread on cap on the top of the tank ( which is the pressure cap / radiator cap )
Mounted At Oil Filter, Threaded/Screw In.
The thread on cap on your engine coolant reservoir is the pressure cap ( radiator cap )
On a 2000 Lincoln LS : The thread on cap on the engine coolant reservoir is the pressure cap / radiator cap * the engine coolant reservoir is in the engine compartment , on the drivers side of the engine compartment , next to the firewall , you can see the cap through a hole in the " trim "
if it is coolant and not condensation. I would say you have a blown head gasket. the coolant will smell sweet. but if it is a bad head gasket it will run hot also.
Next to the coolant reservoir... black hose sticking forward with a plastic screw in it...
According to the 2000 Lincoln LS Owner Guide : It came from the factory with a 50 / 50 mix of distilled water and GREEN color antifreeze ( meeting Ford specification ESE-M97B44-A )
This should happen automatically. Are you losing coolant, is the cooling system leaking somewhere? Have you just changed the coolant? Unless there is a leak, the system should purge by itself.
