The oil light, in most or all vehicles, monitors oil pressure. That said, it will light up when the pressure is too low (or, more uncommonly, too high), or because there may be a fault in the monitoring system.
First check your engine oil level (on level ground). If the level is too low, and you step on the brakes or accelerate hard, the oil flows away from the oil pump's pick-up tube and causes the pressure to drop (not good for the engine), which causes the light to flash.
If your oil level is good, then you need to check the oil pressure sensor and its wiring to determine if there is a short being created by certain vehicle motions (like braking).
Put the Key in the on position and tap the gas pedal to the floor 5 times. Your oil light will flash 5 times and the light will be reset. Turn the key off, and then you can start your vehicle and have no change oil light flashing.
the oil light flashed I put oil in it right away and they oil came right back out 20mins later...I had a guy look at it and he said it appears to be the oil pan gasket but wasn't sure? I have to put oil to make it to the dealer how much money do you thing this could end up costing me?..
security light keep flashing put new starter on still will not crank
Check the oil pressure. If that's ok then its probably the oil pressure sensor which is a 20.00 part. If the oil pressure is low then prepare to spend some cash.
Probably because your oil level is really, really low and when you put the brakes on whatever drop you have left sloshes to the front of the engine so there is not enough left to register at the pump sender, and when you are in park you are only idling, so it is not creating enough pressure at the pump and the light comes on. You should get your oil level checked while you still have an engine left to put some in. Like tomorrow. Phil
To put drum brakes back together on a 01 Tracker, put together drum brakes by the edges. Spray with penetrating oil. Finally, tighten the bolts and lug nuts.Ê
Flashing light indicates it is not in 4X4 but is attempting to. light should stay solid when 4X4 is locked in. Are you trying to go into 4lo or 4hi?
I put a little Engine oil into the Hydrolic brakes which overflowed immediately as already full can i still drive
Put enough in to reach the full mark on the dipstick. If the oil light is on you either have a leak or the engine is burning oil.
when the glow plug light is flashing during driving it is not the plugs that need replaced it normally means you have a bulb blown most commonly one of your sidelights and once replaced your glow plug light will stop flashing
put more oil in
Put your key in the slot next to the light to reset it
