Is the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT on? There could be any number of causes for this. Has maintenance been kept up? Start by checking the BASIC things and progress from there: like FUEL FILTER, bad vacuum lines; (cracked or off), DIRTY intake system (Mass Air sensor, air filter, throttle body etc.) A lot of things can contribute to it running rough. But you have to have a HEALTHY fuel system, spark system and intake system for smooth operation. In case you have a P0171 code "System adaptive too lean" (bank 1) then it is most likely a bad MAF sensor
