The trailer light connector on a 2001 Acura MDX is typically located near the rear of the vehicle, often on the driver's side. It may be found beneath the rear bumper or inside the cargo area, usually near the spare tire compartment. If you have the factory towing package, the connector might be more accessible and clearly labeled. For specific details, it's advisable to consult the vehicle's owner's manual.
Fuses are designed and intended to protect the wiring from SHORT CIRCUITS and OVERLOADING. When a fuse "blows" instantly upon connecting the trailer wiring to the vehicle wiring connector, suggests a short in the trailer wiring, or one of the light sockets/fixtures. If the fuse did not blow instantly, but over a period of minutes, would be suggestive ofan overload condition. Sinceit blows the tail light fuse, logic suggests the short should be found in the tail light wires or bulb sockets on the trailer. Another possibility, but very remote, is a defect in one or both of the connector plugs. Look for an area ofcut or chaffed insulation onthe trailer tail light wires, where the wire may be "pinched" in a crevicebetween twometal members of the trailer frame, OR where the wire makes a very sharp turn around a metal edge.j3h. you have a short in the tail light wiring of the trailer
Different brakes and suspension. Towing package may include trailer light connector.
Chances are very good that you have a bad ground wire on your trailer or on the connector. Check the connector for rust or rot, clean the pins and use some grease to prevent future problems. If the problem isn't at the connector, you may have a bad ground on the trailer which could be anything from an ungrounded light socket to a bad ground wire. Hope this helps
Trying to replace passenger side tailight on a 2002 Jeep Liberty. Cannot disconnect the plug and the replacement connector looks different from the original! Thanks Jim

There is an existing plug behind the left side tail light (look up from under the bumper). Get the proper tee-connector and plug it in.
