Your sending unit in the fuel tank may be bad, the wire connector could be disconnectged or there is a broken wire in the circuit, or the gauge itself has an issue.
The sending unit is likely faulty
Can be a blown fuse, defective sending unit, or loose of disconnected wiring. The gauge itself can be bad, but not likely.
Let me guess, the gauge vibrated for a while and now it's not working at all. Replace the fuel pump sending unit.
if your computer gets ripped out from above the front right tire then your gas gauge and everything else wont work. poor American engineering, they couldn't think of a better place for the computer
If it gets to hot the thermostat wont work. you need to repace it and the gauge will work again.
you need a newvoltage reducer
only 3 reasons a temp gauge wont work the temp sender is bad the gauge is bad or the wire from temp sender to gauge is broken
why won't my gas gauge work all the time.it will read full when i fill it but after that as i drive i am not sure how much gas is in the tank
on some vehicles the gas light will still work if the gauge does not. on some vehicles such as an 1985 Toyota cressida have a separate sensor allowing the low fuel light to illuminate.
check your ground wire to the gauge
Trust me, it works. Your problem is the fuel level sensing unit connected to your fuel pump. Change your fuel pump and your problems will be solved.
the gas gauge is inside the gas tank on this jeep. the only way to fix it is to pull the tank and either replace the gauge or replace the entire tank assembly. why not use the trip odometer as an index of how far you've gone after a fill up which would give you a close guess about the gas tank contents. but you only get to be wrong once before you're stranded in the boondocks. i replaced the works.
