passlock system needs repair, tow it to a GM dealer. They usually replace the lock cylinder & reprogram the security system. $500.oo-$600.00
Not enough information regarding why the car won't start but as to he security light; it's always blinking when the engine is off.
change the blue box maybe.
Sometimes my sons 2001 Grand Am does that. It has to do with the Security System. Turn the key to ACC the Security light will start blinking and will continue to do so for 10 minutes. At that time the Security Light will stay on. At that point you can start you car. This works for him Good Luck.
The blinking security light in your car is designed to indicate that the security system is active and should not significantly drain your battery. However, if your car is not driven for an extended period, even small drains from systems like the security light can contribute to battery depletion. It's a good idea to start the car periodically or use a battery maintainer if you won't be driving it for a while.
it might be the chip in the key. i know it does it in later model cars.
do not start vehicle but turn key to on position then off three times and on that third time leave it on the "on" position takes 10 to 15 minutes to reset the security light should stop blinking.
From what ive read it is the passive security system, it reads a chip in the key once inserted and stops blinking. in other words the car wont start without the chipped ford key
I believe that when the PATS theft light is blinking RAPIDLY it is because you are trying to start the car with a non-PATS coded key. If it is blinking every couple of seconds SLOWLY, it just means the system is monitoring the ignition.
You need to put your key in the "on" position and you will notice that the Security light will be blinking. Keep the key in the On position until the Security Light stops blinking and stays on. This will take about ten minutes; after the security light stays on steadily, you want to turn the key to the off position and then try starting the car again. The purpose of this is to reset the passlock system that the Grand Am's come equipped with. It can be quite annoying, mine once left me stranded in the Walgreens Drive-thru when i shut off my engine. I'm planning on installing a remote starter and a bypass module to see if that will work. Good luck :)
if the light goes off it's probably the starter...
without it the security lite will start blinking fast and the motor will only spin over but not crank
usally all that needs to be done is the pcm needs reprogramed but a technition will need to do it.
