The hatch is held up by gas struts on either side. When it won't stay up the struts most likely have lost their gas pressure and need to be replaced. Pretty Simple Job. You can buy the parts at the dealer or from many sources over the net.

i need to find out if the rear headliner lights stay on when rear hatch is closed,if it stays on you will need to replace the latch,to get to it you will to remove trim that is oevr the tag,and the plastic panel that is on the hatch.
Replace the small looking shocks. That's what holds the door up.
on the rear hatch of your trail blazer ,there are two (one on each side) shocks that hold the door up. thay after time have to be replaced. you can find them at any auto part store or Chevy dealer.
They put little hydraulic cylinders in the hatches so that it will stay up. its probably just worn out.
