Have a mechanic check your oil levels, fuel filter, air filter and idle. If you can't afford a mechanic....In the mean time, before your car comes to a stop, try shifting it into nuetral, then brake, then back to drive when you move again.
Could also be the TCC solenoid in auto trans. They get sticky and don't release when coming to a stop. Causes stall, just like stick-shift forgot clutch. Extremely common problem with GM auto trans.

It is the crank positioning sensor.
Hi,I have a 1990 and its located right above the int light on the pass side .I took the glove compatment out and then its easy to get at.
I had a 1994 Buick Park avenue that would do this occasionally . The Mechanic replaced the crank sensor " and it "solved" the problem for several months. After several months a similar problem came up again. This time it appears to be a short in the Battery Cable connections. I could get out and just peck on the cable and it would start. I am going to replace the battery Cables entirely and see if this "solves" it again.
cracked heads or block
I would think the engine control moudule is bad. I would check and see if there is any spark when it wont start. if no spark replacr the control moudule. Its very common to act up only when warm. Also if there is spark check fuel preasure. But again I would replace the moudule
