It could be possible that any or all of the automatic clutch plates in the transmission are worn down too far, or broken.... this is usually caused by reckless handling of the vehicle.... i.e.- "neutral slams": where you put the transmission into N, rev up the engine and "slam" the transmission into Drive; "line locks": where you sit stationary and apply the brakes firmly while depressing the gas pedal to spin the drive tires; and any other ways of "goofing-off".... find someone that knows transmissions really well and they'll take care of you.
Absolutely not.
I had this problem in my 2007. the forward sprag was broken. i still had 1st, 2nd 3rd and reverse but no drive.
yes .. if the car is in drive and u put it in reverse.... bye bye gears
what is the problem when the car will not go in drive or reverse? and the transmission fluid is still full
Nothing if you are sitting still. However if you are moving forward and it is an older car, you may be replacing a transmission. Most if not all cars today with and automatic trasnmission have a failsafe to prevent going into reverse while going forward.
Generally shifting from reverse to drive, while still rolling, is possible but not recommended. This places a lot of stress on the transmission and other components of the drive train.
No
just had the same thing turns out the automatic car starter went bad and fried the starter replaced it same thing the ignition switch also went bad replaced that too all set now
could be bad mounts on either the tranny or engine?
If you still have the back two wheels
Change the filter, flush transmission, fresh filter and fluid' walla it might work! We did this, and still no drive.
Simply start the vehicle with the shift lever in the Park position. If you wish to go backward place the shift lever in the R location. When you're ready to move forward place the shift lifter in the D position. Only shift from park to reverse or to drive when the vehicle is sitting still.
