A worn ignition switch causes this. You did not turn the ignition off to the locked position. So you would not need the key to turn the car back on. Make sure when you take your key out you can't turn your car back on and then when you open a door it will not make a noise. Just a security feature.......?

Since the chime is built into the lighting control module, you will not be able to just unplug the chime, so if you swish you can disable the key-in warning switch in the steering column. Remove the lower column shroud and find the single BK/PK wire coming from the kay cylinder area. Snip that wire, and you should be chime-less, at least as far as the key is concerned. It will still ding for ather reasons, like if you open the door with the lights on.
